A weekend filled with opportunities to both learn about sleep health and to connect with people in the sleep community. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ For those of you that I haven’t connected with yet... Hi my name is Ciro and I’m proud to be Project Sleep’s Creative Director. ... The sleep community holds a special place in my heart because it was the audience that identified with my early artwork and encouraged me to attend art school to become a Visual Artist. ... Bottom line..If you choose to use drugs, please don’t use alone. Carry Naloxone. Thank you! ・・・ Title: Chase the Solution, Not the Dragon Ceramic Vase🏺 . A studio project from my Cultural Studies in Visual Art class from undergrad. . This ceramic vase references a 16th century Chinese piece. I used traditional and contemporary techniques on the surface design of the vase. . The imagery I chose to use was based off pieces from the Ming dynasty period. . I incorporated some contemporary text including original poetry, newspaper headlines, and imagery to reference the Overdose crisis in Canada 🇨🇦 and the US 🇺🇸. . The fentanyl that is killing thousands of people is believed to be coming from China; it's a personal topic for me, as I lost my housemate just over 5 years ago, my best friend 12 years ago, and struggled with a substance use disorder myself. . "The only way we'll ever touch the problem of addiction is by developing and fostering viable culture."-Dr. Bruce K. Alexander . . The solution for me personally was nurturing my creativity (attending art school and grad school), building a supportive community that transcends geographical borders. Rehabilitation/ treatment (more than one attempt), counselling , and a 12 step program of my choice. . If you're struggling with a substance use disorder or think you might have a problem.. please ask for help or reach out! . . Losing people to accidental overdoses or suicide is not a solution. Hi everyone Happy 🇨🇦Thanksgiving to those of us that are Canadian and Happy Indigenous Peoples’ Day here in Vermont! . Welcome to the picturesque #VermontLife . It’s been just over a year since my Studio, artwork, and clay arrived from British Columbia 🇨🇦. . Juggling renovations with Grad School and family needs on top of COVID-19 has made new flooring a challenge but I’ll get there. . I’m happy with the space and ready to work again. I’m grateful to have the support of my fiancée Kelly, my family here in Vermont, and all around the world. Thank you for those of you who have been sharing how my work has impacted your own work. It’s been just over a year since my Studio, artwork, and clay arrived from British Columbia 🇨🇦. . Juggling renovations with Grad School and family needs on top of COVID-19 has made new flooring a challenge but I’ll get there. . I’m happy with the space and ready to work again. I’m grateful to have the support of my fiancée Kelly, my family here in Vermont, and all around the world. Thank you for those of you who have been sharing how my work has impacted your own work.
